How We Got Here

Our Story

My love of baking led me here! Both Nana and Grandma introduced me to this beloved pastime when I was very young. Even now, the aroma of freshly baked scones takes me back to Nana’s kitchen, from where they would appear alongside delicious cucumber sandwiches and a steaming pot of Earl Grey tea, as if by magic.

Growing up in Lancashire allowed me to refine my baking skills. There are cafes and tea shops around every corner, each offering tempting baked goods to delight the senses. I was constantly inspired to go scurrying back to the kitchen to knead dough and press out pastry.

After marrying a handsome American in 2012 and moving to Austin, Texas, I stumbled upon the perfect spot for an English-inspired tearoom. Thus, Austin English Tea Company was born. Years later, I am over the moon to still be bringing out pots of freshly brewed tea, scones to smother with jam and clotted cream, and rich, decadent sweets to your table.

We are so fortunate that afternoon tea is not just about the food and drink, but about the entire experience to be reveled in. How could you not feel fancy with a teacup betwixt thumb and forefinger, a crisp tablecloth laden with treats, and a teapot full of hot tea to flow alongside your conversation?

We cannot wait to welcome you and your party to our tearoom!
